Promote motorcycles and scooters as practical, efficient and environmentally friendly alternatives to automobiles and trucks.

 

Demand a stop to motorcycle -only traffic stop details and checkpoints

 

Legalize lane sharing for motorcycles and scooters

 

Demand dedicated motorcycle parking

Institute policy of free motorcycle parking at muni-meter locations

Prohibit motorcycle restrictions in all commercial and residential parking garages

 

Protest unjust or fraudulent traffic and parking summonses

 

Compel DMV to issue commercial motorcycle license plates

 

Improve road surfaces and quality of roadway repairs

Require high-traction painted lines, pavement sealer and coatings on manhole covers

Demand motorcycle friendly sensor-driven toll gates and traffic lights

 

Update federal helmet standards and/or incorporate ECE standards for domestic acceptance

Clarify New York's eyewear and eye protection requirements

 

Funnel more money toward the OSU study (successor to the Hurt Report)

Require sufficient motorcycle awareness time in all motorists' pre-licensing courses

Fund PSAs on electronic highway signs, at rest stops, etc.

Compel NHTSA to commission motorcycle awareness and safety videos

 

Petition states to adopt more realistic road tests

Promote graduated motorcycle licensing

Simplify motorcycle license road test procedures, reduce costs

Subsidize MSF training and relax current semi-monopoly on waiver -approved schools in the NYC area

Restrict non-commercial sales and titling of motorcycles to motorcycle endorsement and permit holders

Institute legal requirement for NYC and NYS to track and improve rider safety compared to national averages

 

Step up enforcement of state inspection regulations including exhaust system requirements

Promote amnesty outreach and educational programs for owners of motorcycles who may not have proper licensing, registration or insurance.

 

Enforce existing laws against windshield obstructions - handicap tags, GPS, TVs, etc.

Mandate re-testing for elderly drivers!  >55, special eye tests, >75, driving evaluations, at renewal time

Compel city to enforce jay-walking laws

Increase fines for all distracted driving - at least $500

Mandatory felony charges for fatal accidents involving handheld cellphone use

Mandatory arrest, criminal charges and vehicle seizure for accidents involving unlicensed/uninsured motorists
